I haven't updated this blog in quite a while. That doesn't mean I haven't been working on my genealogy, but in fact, I haven't been working very much. I've done no new research, but I have been trying to catch up on reviewing and entering data from the many documents and photos that have collected in my "to be done" folder over the past couple of years. I've done about 20% of them I think, but there are lots to do yet.
Unlike me, my (distant) cousin, Robert Coleman, has been hard at work and has sent me a new dataset for the Coleman/Jones subsite. The number of people has increased from about 1200 to 5900! Many new related family lines have been included. There is also much more Source information than there was in the old subsite. If your family lines go back to early Ontario settlements, you might find them here.
what's happening on fayewest.ca ...
This blog will reflect the progress of my genealogy project(s). I will describe any major changes that I make on my website www.fayewest.ca and I will document how I solved some brick walls.

Updates for Broder & Striker
I have made some additions to the Broder and Striker sites. Most of the new information is for Lillian Graves and Eldeen Broder. There are also some additions - new spouses and babies. As always, you can see a list of changes/additions on the Recent Updates pages.

West updates
I just realized that I hadn't re-published the West portion of the website for over a year, even though there have been some births, deaths, and miscellaneous updates. So now it's done!

William Henry Gibson
Rhea Gilbert recently sent me a photo and some information on William Henry Gibson's family. This has been added to the Striker section of the website.

Andrew Falk aka Anders Karlsson
Andrew Falk was my grandmother Gerda Louisa Naas' stepfather. I was recently contacted by John Linn, a distant cousin of Andrew. John has been looking for any descendants of Andrew or his brothers in British Columbia. I wasn't able to help him with that, but he kindly provided me with details of Andrew's parents as well as his siblings and some of their descendants. I have added some of that information to the site.

John K (Jack) Jordan
I recently received a note from John Martinuk with some information about his mother, Eileen Jordan. That led me on a search for other information about her and of course led me to other information about her family, including her husband George Martinuk.
John then sent me lovely photos of Eileen's parents, John K Jordan and Anne Cecilia Doyle. Thanks John!
I spent some time searching for more information about Anne Doyle, but haven't managed to come up with anything. I'm quite sure that she is not related to "my" Doyles, but so far I haven't traced her parents.

Database changes
I have decided to change the folder structure and naming convention that I use when storing images and documents. This will involve a LOT of changes to the links in all my records, and it's going to take a long time. I don't know how often I'll re-publish the site, but I will not be documenting those changes in this blog unless there are other changes at the same time.

Doyle - at long last
Apparently I haven't republished the Doyle portion of my site since May 2014. Wow - time flies! There have been a number of "little" updates since then and a few significant ones:
- My first cousin, 3 times removed, Elizabeth Jordan married John Joseph Tobin in 1886. Their family has been added.
- On 24 November 2014, my father's cousin, Robert Gordon Doyle, passed away. I have updated his page with details of his life and death.
- My nephew, Ian Wesley Doyle married Leah Nichole Hutchinson in August.

The several wives of Percy Broder
Thanks to my cousin Elaine Wilson, we have identified Percy Broder's first wife. She was Kathreen Alice Collier, and like his later wives, she only lasted for a few years before they were divorced. (Either Percy was very unlucky in his choices or he was impossible to live with. I know where I'd put my bet!)
I've added Kathreen's information and made a few updates to Melba (Sigsworth) Pappajohn, Percy's second wife.

Hall & West families
It's almost West family reunion day, so I've been frantically updating records - adding details, documents, photos, etc. There are too many changes to list here; and only the most recent 25 show on the Recent Updates page. But poke around if there's anyone in particular you're interested in.

WOW - how long since I updated Broders?
Over the past year I have periodically made a change or two to various members of the Broder family. I never bothered to re-build the site because each set of changes seemed inconsequential at the time. Suddenly I discovered that the number of changes has really added up and the site hasn't been updated for a year! So, the changes are now published - but I can't tell you in any detail what they are, because I don't remember! They are all listed in the Recent Updates though.

Ellingson
I've added details, including children and some grandchildren, for Mary Elizabeth Hall and her husband Berg Ellingson. Mary was my mother-in-law's (June (Hall) West) older half-sister. When Mary died at age 33, her youngest son, Earl, went to live with his grandfather Orson Hall and was raised as a brother to June.

All those Doyle boys and one Hamilton
Today I updated each of my Doyle grand-uncles and their wives. In some cases, the updates were significant - new marriage registration forms provided many details; in other cases, the updates were simply editorial. The easiest way to find the updates is to check the Recent Updates (23 September 2013) page. Or you can click on the links below:
Jerry Moore, my second cousin once removed, sent a lovely photo of John G Hamilton and his wife Selma Oksendahl. That is now available on their pages.
- Charles Michael Doyle (1892-1968)
- James Hamilton Doyle (1893-1980)
- John Mary Fitzsimmons Doyle (1894-1970)
- Joseph Gordon Doyle (1896-1973)
- Francis Joseph Doyle (1898-1966)
- Dominic Augustine Doyle (1902-1945)
- Bernard Cyril Doyle (1904-1989)
- Thomas Patrick Doyle (1908-1958)
- Philip Augustine Doyle (1910-1972)

James Hamilton Doyle
I came across some new information about my great-uncle James Hamilton Doyle and his wife Aulene (Addie) Benson. Most interesting was the fact that they had two children, Olivetta Mary and Robert H.

Harris
I received word of the death of Howard Melvin Harris, the husband of my husband's cousin LaRue Burbank. I have added the info and found his online obituary which provided more info about their children.
